Critically Acclaimed Quartet to Deliver Fiery Performance in Langley
The Langley Community Music School (LCMS) is pleased to present the Borealis String Quartet as part of the Rose Gellert Hall Concert Series at 7:30 pm on Saturday evening, November 17, 2018.
Earning international acclaim for their radiant sound and intensely focused style, the ensemble is set to impress with an upcoming performance of Raminsh, Shostakovich and Dvorak.
“The Borealis String Quartet will be presenting a programme that I believe is one of great depth and variety,” says LCMS Artistic Director Elizabeth Bergmann. “It features two of the great works of the string quartet literature along with a newer work (2003) by Okanagan-based composer Imant Raminsh. The Borealis has been delving intensely into his music as they are planning a recording of all of his string quartets. The 9th quartet by Shostakovich is rich and full of contrast, and the nicknamed ‘American’ quartet by Dvorak bears the same spirit as his famous and much beloved 9th symphony from ‘The New World,’ with parallel musical similarities.”
Whether you are new to chamber music or a seasoned enthusiast, the community is encouraged to attend and experience the dynamic artistry of this world-class quartet.
LCMS Principal, Carolyn Granholm adds, “We are honoured to have the Borealis as one of our Quartets in Residence. In addition to performing concerts, the Borealis work closely with our school’s chamber music programme. The mentorship they provide our young musicians is invaluable.”
Mark your Calendars: on December 2, 2018, Daniel Bolshoy (guitar) and Milton Masciadri (double bass) will perform as part of our Concert Café Classico event series.
Langley Community Music School is grateful for this year’s sponsor of the Rose Gellert Concert Series: HSBC. LCMS also wishes to express appreciation for the support of the BC Arts Council and the Province of BC.
