Guitar & Double Bass Virtuoso Set to Heat Up Rose Gellert Stage in Langley
Daniel Bolshoy, guitar and Milton Masciadri, double bass, will be treating the Lower Mainland to an exciting, world-class performance at Langley Community Music School’s (LCMS) upcoming Concert Café Classico series concert at 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018.
The virtuoso duo will be taking a unique approach to the lyrical and Latin side of double bass and guitar repertoire. Their highly anticipated performance will feature song and dance pieces by composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Gabriel Fauré, Carlos Guastavino, as well as Edmundo Villani-Cortes and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
The afternoon will begin at 2:30 pm with a pre-concert conversation with Masciadri and Bolshoy, hosted by LCMS’s artistic director and famed pianist, Elizabeth Bergmann. The friendly and informative commentary will highlight the duo’s careers, and share their personal insights into the afternoon’s selections. There will be a short break with coffee and refreshments before the performance from 3:30-4:30 pm.
“LCMS is very pleased to be presenting this dynamic duo and their Latin and Spanish flavoured programme,” says Bergmann. “The combination of classical guitar and double bass evokes sounds of a very special timbre, and this particular colour creates a wonderfully intimate listening experience. This will be a fabulous afternoon of music that promises to keep you warm at this time of the year.”
Daniel Bolshoy has thrilled audiences with his incredible technique and passionate approach. Touted as one of Canada’s most exciting concert artists, his beautiful, fluid and powerful melodies often bring the audience to its feet. Regularly praised for his spoken introductions and progressive programming, the charismatic guitarist is in demand as both a soloist and with many prestigious orchestras internationally and across Canada.
Milton Masciadri has enjoyed a phenomenal career as a double bassist with major symphony orchestras around the world, and as a solo and duet performer at internationally renowned concert venues. Amongst a lifetime of impressive achievements, Masciadri is a Distinguished University Professor of the University of Georgia, a designated UNESCO Artist for Peace and holds the title of “Accademico” of the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna, Italy.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $10 for students. A Concerts Café Classico Flex Pass is also available. Please call the box office at 504-534-2848 or visit LangleyMusic.com to learn more. The Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 Street, Langley, BC.
