Musicianship for all Instruments
“To hear with the eyes – to see with the ears” – Zoltan Kodaly
Be well prepared for your RCM Exam Musicianship Requirements (Ear Tests & Sight Reading). Invaluable for any instrumentalist, singer or composer! Perfect for all musicians – from teens-adults and from beginner through University levels – to strengthen musicianship, ear tests and sight reading for improved exam results (Musicianship is worth 20% of your mark!) and/or further develop musical independence and understanding.
Rooted in the Kodaly method, this course cultivates aural skills and a deeper understanding of musical structure, intervals, chords, and progressions through singing in solfege, listening/transcribing, and using a variety of progressive rhythmic, harmonic and melodic exercises.
Musicianship for all Instruments – Book 1
Excellent for instrumentalists, singers and composers RCM Grades 1-4, or would like a refresher course to solidify your skills.
Musicianship for all Instruments – Book 2
Excellent for students who have completed Musicianship for all Instruments or are studying at or above Grade 5 RCM.
Musicianship for all Instruments – Advanced
Excellent for students who are studying RCM Grades 8-10.

Musicianship for all Instruments – Book 2
Excellent for students who have completed Musicianship for all Instruments Book 1 or are studying at or above Grade 5 RCM. The course studies intervals, chords, and progressions through singing in solfege, listening/transcribing, and using a variety of progressive rhythmic, harmonic and melodic exercises.
Treble and Bass clefs are used to study sight singing in Major and minor, with chromaticism, modulations, ¾, 4/4, 6/8, 5/4 and mixed meters. Excerpts are in the style of Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern music and will greatly benefit all musicians.

Adult Cello Group Class
All adult cello students are invited to come share music and to learn from each other. We will dive into technique, work through pieces, and explore some beautiful cello ensemble repertoire. Cellists of all levels are welcome. By working together, we will discover a deeper level of what our instruments can do. Some music-reading ability is recommended.

LCMS Fiddlers
The LCMS Fiddlers meet each Wednesday to prepare lively programs for various community events throughout the year. Fiddlers from the community are welcome to join the ensemble and learn a wide variety of fiddle and pop music. Auditions may be required to determine placement in the appropriate level.

Jazz Ensemble
Develop your improvisational side, build your ensemble playing skills and grow your knowledge of jazz repertoire! The Jazz Ensemble meets weekly, with performance opportunities throughout the year. Guitar Group Class
This is a course for adults and youth interested in studying guitar in a group setting. Classes explore a variety of musical styles. Please contact the office to enquire.

Popular Music Vocal Course
This is a course for teens and adults wanting to sing popular styles relevant to today’s music industry while expanding their vocal abilities and musical skill set. The performance-based classes develop a solid foundation in vocal technique and a basic understanding of music theory in relation to sight singing and chord charts, explore stage technique, and develop group singing skills such as blend and harmony – all in a supportive environment.
In order begin class, students must be able to pitch accurately.

Harp Ensemble
This course is for students interested in exploring harp ensemble repertoire and developing their ensemble musicianship skills. The group meets twice per month throughout the year. An audition may be required.
