Pro-D Workshop: Beethoven Piano Sonatas

Teachers and interested community members are invited to a free seminar on Beethoven’s piano sonatas with Marcel Bergmann.

In this workshop, Marcel will focus on the Sonatas teachers typically deal with in their own studios: Op. 49 Nos. 1 and 2, Op. 79, Op. 14 Nos. 1 and 2, Op. 2/1, Op. 10/1 and 2, and the Pathetique. In addition to discussion of specific musical and formal aspects, he will also delve into particular challenges and approaches to these works, and offer some suggestions about which pieces to give students at certain levels and ages, possible sequences of sonatas, and practice tips.
