Skovorodnikov Makes Steinway Sing at Upcoming Classico Concert
From stages across the globe to Langley’s Rose Gellert Hall, the Langley Community Music School (LCMS) is pleased to welcome Ukrainian-born Steinway pianist Eugene Skovorodnikov to the next Concerts Café Classico concert on Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2016 at 2:30pm.
This virtuoso pianist will perform well-known works including Haydn’s Variations in F minor and the romantic Sonata No. 3 by Brahms. Skovorodnikov is looking forward to the performance, and says Brahms’ music is of “great depth, profound emotions, highest level of sensitivity and mystery.
Probably one of the best examples of music conveying a message of love.” He adds, Haydn is “probably the most romantic of all composers of the second half of 18th century. These works fit together really well into a fulfilling mix of perfection of music form and emotional content.”
Skovorodnikov, a prolific international performer and world-sought educator, has thrilled audiences throughout Europe, Canada, USA, Latin America, Asia and the former Soviet Union for his stylistic interpretation and his technical brilliance. The Nevsky Times in Russia says, “Eugene captured attention of the audience with his perfect mastery and polished sense of style, full of life and romanticism … he played with the power and colours of symphony orchestra, with fluent and flawless virtuosity.” Il Ponte in Italy also says, “Extraordinary performance … represented all the impressive characteristics of the Grand School…incomparable elegance and enchanting power.”
Award-winning pianist Skovorodnikov continues his global music tours as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral performer, with the likes of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra as well as at such notable concert halls as the Grand Theatre in Shenzhen, China. Skovorodnikov is also a master class teacher at University of British Columbia (UBC). Learn more at www.eugeneskovorodnikov.com

The event begins at 2:30 pm with a pre-concert talk show, followed by a short break with coffee and refreshments, and the concert performance at 3:30 pm. Tickets for the Concerts Café Classico event are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Call the box office at 604-534-2848.
