LCMS faculty members Karina Slupski, violin. Ben Goheen, cello and Christina Tong, piano join together to perform the majestic and memorable Tchaikovsky piano trio in a minor. In reference to Tchaikovsky’s mentor, Nikolai Rubinstein, the programme is subtitled À la mémoire d’un grand artiste [In memory of a great artist].
The concert will open with an informal conversation between LCMS’ Artistic Director Elizabeth Bergmann and the artists, followed by complimentary coffee, tea and refreshments before the performance. The performance will take place in the Rose Gellert Hall and will last approximately 60 min, with no intermission.

Biographies
Karina Slupski
A native of Warsaw, Poland, Karina Slupski holds her Bachelor’s and Master‘s of Music degrees in violin performance from the University of Southern California School of Music in Los Angeles. She has performed with Los Angeles Opera and the Pacific Symphony and was a guest principal second violinist of the Utah Chamber Artists. She has recorded soundtracks for various motion picture and television soundtracks while in Los Angeles. After moving to the Vancouver area she became an active freelance musician with major local orchestras including Vancouver Symphony and Vancouver Opera. She has also devoted her time teaching young violinists, many of whom moved on to study violin performance at major universities, including McGill, University of Western Ontario, UBC, Temple University, Victoria Conservatory, Koninklijk Conservatorium den Haag, and Glenn Gould Professional School, among others. Karina is a founding member of the Sempre String Quartet and gives solo and chamber music recitals, as time permits.
Ben Goheen, cello
Ben Goheen holds his Masters degree in Cello Performance from the University of British Columbia, where he studied with Eric Wilson. Since moving to BC from Ontario, he has enjoyed performing with several symphonies and ensembles, including: Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, and Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra. He is also an active chamber musician and loves performing with a variety of smaller chamber ensembles throughout the Lower Mainland, including LCMS’s Resident Ensemble, the Rose Gellert String Quartet. In addition to performing, Ben is also the conductor of Surrey Symphony Society’s Symphonic Strings, and enjoys a full schedule of cello students throughout the week. When he’s not teaching or performing, he loves spending time with his wife and three kids.
Christina Tong, piano
is an active pianist, chamber musician and educator. She holds a Master of Music degree in performance from McGill University, a Bachelor of Music performance degree from the University of Victoria and an associate performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is currently faculty member and resident collaborative pianist at the Langley Community Music School. She is also cofounder of Sonoritá Duo for cello and piano with celebrated cellist, Judy Lou. Christina has competed and performed in solo, collaborative, and orchestral performances across Canada, winning numerous awards from competitions over the years. Her mentors include renowned pianists Bruce Vogt, Ilya Poletaev and Jane Coop.
Christina has worked with winners and top finalists at Performing Arts BC, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival, Vancouver Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and Vancouver Area Youth Arts Festival. She has also collaborated with students and colleagues in the Canadian Music Festival debuting Canadian compositions, as well as the Langley Community Music School Scholarship and Awards Festival. She was recently in concert with Sonorità Duo presented by Müzewest Concerts. In addition to performing, Christina enjoys teaching a full studio and coaching chamber music.
