LANGLEY, BC — Langley Community Music School (LCMS) is hosting their annual Fall Community Day Open House on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, featuring a free concert with renowned children’s entertainer Will Stroet at 12:15pm in Rose Gellert Hall.
Will Stroet is an award winning entertainer and star of Will’s Jams on Kids’ CBC television. He performs a high-energy and educational show with fun actions and sing-a-long choruses that inspires kids to be active, healthy, creative and engaged. A world-renowned performer, Will has received a West Coast Songwriters Award, Parents’ Choice Approval Awards and multiple nominations from the Western Canadian Music Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards and SiriusXM Indies. “Will is the kind of performer that will […] take up the mantle of past iconic children’s performers like Raffi, Fred Penner and Sharon, Lois and Bram,” says Casey Prescott of the Banff Centre. “His music and performance style has weight and character and he is on the cusp of becoming a household name.”
The Open House will also feature multiple scheduled events, including a Suzuki Information Session and a free mini Orff class for 3 to 5 year olds, both at 1:00 pm. Open to people of all ages, this open house is a great opportunity to explore a variety of musical instruments, learn about the programs and classes, and meet the teachers. Take a tour, enjoy free refreshments, and immerse yourself in the magical sounds of Will Stroet.
“This open house is an excellent opportunity for the community to discover all that the Langley Community Music School has to offer,” says LCMS Principal Susan Magnusson. “Beyond being a music school for all ages and levels, the school is also an important cultural resource for the community featuring many world-renowned concert performancers throughout the year.”
There will also be an opportunity to sign up to receive notifications of the school’s renowned concerts and events, which feature stellar local, national and international artists throughout the year in the school’s Rose Gellert Hall. The first of which is the Concerts Café Classico season opener on Sunday, September 13, 2015, featuring the works of Chopin, Ives and Ligeti, performed by LCMS alumna Susan Tang.
