Jeehoon Marcus Kim studied with Audrey Nodwell and Judith Fraser at VAM, Eric Wilson at UBC, Paul Katz at the Eastman School of Music, Johanne Perron at the Harid Conservatory (BM), Aldo Parisot at Yale University (MM), and attended the Banff Centre (Claude Kenneson, Aldo Parisot, Steven Isserlis), the Orford Arts Centre (Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Janos Starker), Sarasota Music Festival (Ron Leonard, Christoph Henckel), and Aspen Music Festival (fellowship student of Eric Kim, Aspen Chamber Orchestra).
Marcus has performed as a section cellist in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, principal cellist of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta, guest principal cellist of NACO, Vancouver Island Symphony, and Victoria Symphony, acting principal cellist and associate principal cellist of the Korean Symphony Orchestra.
Marcus has taught cello performance at the University of Calgary, Mount Royal-Conservatory of Music, the Korea National University of Arts (KNUA), orchestral studies at Yonsei University and KNUA, masterclasses at VAM and the University of Alberta and Connecticut, Quiring Chamber Music Camp, and the International Summer Music Festival and School in Bogota, Colombia.
Marcus has adjudicated for the Kiwanis Music Festival- Vancouver, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Chuncheon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary.
Marcus has performed for EMI Records, Bravo! Channel, A Channel Calgary, KBS, Arte Channel in Seoul, C.B.C. Radio two, and WQXR New York.
