Naomi is a vibrant and accomplished violinist. She plays with the Vancouver Symphony, her group the Alderwood Ensemble and teaches privately. Prior to moving to Vancouver in 2014, Naomi was the Associate Concertmaster of the Toledo Symphony in Ohio for eight seasons and held the post of Concertmaster of the Mansfield Symphony in Ohio for five seasons. In addition Naomi has held positions with the Wheeling Symphony, Honolulu Symphony, New World Symphony, Akron Symphony, and the Canton Symphony. She has performed many violin solos with orchestras including the Vivaldi Seasons, Barber Violin Concerto, Mozart’s Concerto no.3 K 216, and Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate. Naomi has also performed as the Mandolin soloist in Respighi’s Roman Festivals and Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

Naomi holds a Master Degree from Oberlin Conservatory, as a pupil of Marilyn McDonald and a Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota, as a pupil of Almita and Roland Vamos. Naomi’s early violin studies were at the Mount Royal Conservatory in Calgary, Alberta as a student of Dr.Lise Elson.

As a baroque violinist she has performed and recorded with: Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, San Francisco Bach Choir, Pittsburgh Camerata, Boston Bach Ensemble, Tafelmusik, Publick Musick. She had the unique opportunity to record in New York city the complete orchestral soundtrack for the Disney Touchstone Pictures movie Cassanova. For 15 summer seasons Naomi performed orchestra and chamber music with the Carmel Bach Festival in California. Naomi has also toured and performed extensively throughout the United States, Japan and Europe with orchestras and festivals: Vancouver Symphony, Toledo Symphony, Pacific Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, New World Symphony, Kent-Blossom Festival, Bowdoin Music Festival, and Banff School of Fine Arts. In those tours she played in many famous concert halls: Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Vienna Konzerthaus,The Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Grosses Festpeilhaus Salzburg and the Barbican London UK.

Naomi has been a prize winner in several competitions. She won first prize in the Schubert Club Competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota playing the Sibelius Violin Concerto. In the Canadian Music Competition in Montreal she was a top national prize winner and has won numerous prizes in the Kiwanis Music Festival Competition.

Throughout Naomi’s 28 years as a professional musician she has maintained private violin teaching studios. The discovery of her students as they grow and learn to play the violin has always been a passion for her.

In her spare time, Naomi loves cooking fine food, listening to her son play jazz drums in various combos and playing with her very cute cat Sumi.
