Works for oboe and piano duo as well as solo piano will resound on the Rose Gellert stage. Principal oboist of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Emma Ringrose, and UBC professor, Mark Anderson will include Shizen by Jean Coulthard in celebration of Canadian Music Week. Other works on the programme will include 3 Romances by Clara Schumann, The Rontgen 1st Ballade in d minor for solo piano and Poulenc’s Sonata for oboe and piano.

Biographies
Emma Ringrose, Oboe
Emma Ringrose is a freelance oboist in Vancouver. She performs regularly with many orchestras including Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Film Orchestra and Turning Point Ensemble. Emma is also in demand as a chamber musician, recently performing the Mozart and Beethoven piano quintets with pianist Mark Anderson, as well as giving recitals with the Bergmann Duo.
Originally from the UK, Emma graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and was awarded both the Graham and WinNield oboe prizes. After college, Emma worked with many orchestras including the Hallé , BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Opera North, Scottish Ballet and Northern Ballet. Before emigrating to Canada, Emma spent 6 years as Sub-Principal Oboe of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, participating in many live radio and TV performances, CD recordings, international tours and playing in the BBC Proms concerts. She was also a member of the BBC Philharmonic Wind Quintet and the BBC Philharmonic Oboe Trio.
