The quartet will perform Schumann’s Kinderszenen, Op. 15 (Scenes from Childhood) arranged for string quartet and Brahm’s Piano Quintet, with pianist Christina Tong. This will be the third of three concerts based around the musical influences of composers over the generations – the Lineage Series.
The concert will be performed to a small audience in the Rose Gellert Hall. It will last approximately 60 minutes, with no intermission and no refreshments served.

About the Rose Gellert String Quartet
Established in 2016, the Rose Gellert String Quartet is ensemble in residence at LCMS, and has given performances as part of LCMS’ concert series as well as throughout the Fraser Valley. Violinists Will Chen and Llowyn Ball, violist Peter Ing and cellist Ben Goheen are all active musicians, teachers, and music coaches throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Through their LCMS residency, the Quartet has a mandate to create and foster community, as well as a deeper appreciation of music – a mandate they are proud to fulfill through their many outreach concerts at local schools and seniors’ facilities.
About Christina Tong
Christina Tong is an active pianist, chamber musician and educator. She holds a Master of Music degree in performance from McGill University, a Bachelor of Music performance degree from the University of Victoria and an associate performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is currently faculty member and resident collaborative pianist at the Langley Community Music School. She is also cofounder of Sonoritá Duo for cello and piano with celebrated cellist, Judy Lou. Christina has competed and performed in solo, collaborative, and orchestral performances across Canada, winning numerous awards from competitions over the years. Her mentors include renowned pianists Bruce Vogt, Ilya Poletaev and Jane Coop.
Christina has worked with winners and top finalists at Performing Arts BC, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival, Vancouver Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and Vancouver Area Youth Arts Festival. She has also collaborated with students and colleagues in the Canadian Music Festival debuting Canadian compositions, as well as the Langley Community Music School Scholarship and Awards Festival. She was recently in concert with Sonorità Duo presented by Müzewest Concerts. In addition to performing, Christina enjoys teaching a full studio and coaching chamber music.
