Julia has studied Violin and Piano from a young age, both in Suzuki and then continuing through the Royal Conservatory of Music, receiving her Associate Diploma in 2004. She then completed a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Victoria, studying with Sharon Stanis and the Lafayette String Quartet.

Julia has performed in various ensembles, including the West Coast Symphony under the direction of multi award winning conductor Maestro Bujar Llapaj, the UVic Symphony Orchestra conducted by award winning orchestral conductor János Sándor, and she played in the UVic Jazz Orchestra under the direction of two time Juno award winner Hugh Fraser.

Julia’s philosophy for teaching has been inspired by many influences over the years, most notably by her RCM teacher Carla Birston, university mentor Sharon Stanis of the Lafayette String Quartet, the late conductor János Sándor from his tenure conducting orchestra at the University of Victoria, and by the philosophy of the Orff approach. Her main goal is to create a lifelong love and appreciation for learning music.
