Guitar, Bass, and Drum students welcome!
 
Join LCMS this summer for the School of Rock! This program is a practical performance workshop where students form and rehearse in their own bands and perform in an end of week concert for family and friends. Each day will focus on a different style of music including, Blues, Rock, Funk/Reggae and composition where students will write an original piece of music.
 
Groups will perform and learn songs by artists including: Led Zeppelin, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. Each day will include instrument instruction, theory, history, rehearsal workshops, and performance. A CD recording will be made of every band/student that takes part. The program is for Guitar, Bass and Drums. Students should have some basic experience on their instruments (2 to 3 months of playing/lessons ).
Participants should bring a packed lunch to the workshop each day.

Faculty Biographies

 
Tom Hancock, guitar
Berklee trained and graduate of Capilano College; 10 years of teaching experience.  Tom has had work published by Sony and also the German label Sonar Kollectiv as part of the seven piece soul band One Luv.  
 
Sam Cartwright, drums
B.Mus. in Jazz Studies majoring in Instrumental Performance.  Sam is a well-known  freelance musician, composer and instructor.
