Music for Babies and Toddlers
(3 mos – 3 yrs)

Give your child an enriching musical experience that is designed to support and celebrate their success as they grow and learn. Classes are structured to provide a comforting routine through which new tasks and activities are introduced in a
calm learning environment.
The year-long narrative format is ideal for building self-awareness, experiencing progressive learning and developing social skills. Classes incorporate songs, rhymes and opportunities to play a variety of instruments.
Children 3 months to 3 years participate together with their parents or caregivers.

Sing Move & Play
Learn music fundamentals and develop creativity in a fun environment through song, drama, games, stories, dance and poetry!
These fun classes:

Students are grouped by age in order to meet developmental needs. Following the philosophy of “experience first, intellectualize second”, they are introduced to the fundamental concepts of music. Concepts introduced in early classes are built upon in later classes and years.
Prepare for learning an instrument
Skills learned in Orff classes are an ideal preparation for learning an instrument, and are recommended to be taken prior to, and in conjunction with, instrument study.
What is Orff?
In this approach to learning, developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman, musicianship is built through singing, playing instruments, speech and movement. Active music-making is the core of this approach, through which learners experience and then internalize musical concepts and ideas. Children who are regularly encouraged to create and develop their own ideas are uniquely prepared to solve problems in other contexts.
Orff for 3 years
Students explore speaking and singing voices and are encouraged to think creatively in response to songs, poems and stories. They are introduced to rhythm and beat using body percussion, and play a variety of rhythm and barred instruments (e.g. drums, xylophone). Teachers guide students to appropriate social behaviour and spatial awareness.
Note: Students must turn 3 by December 31 of the current school year.
Orff for 4 years
Building on pitch-matching and rhythmic skills, students begin to transfer concepts into “music language” and track rhythms on poster board or paper. A variety of rhythm and barred instruments (e.g. drums, xylophone) provide opportunities for playing solos or as part of a percussion ensemble. Sequential movements are introduced to inspire presentation of creative ideas individually, with partners, and with objects (e.g. hula hoops) as students expand their repertoire of rhymes, rhythms and songs.
Note: Students must turn 4 by December 31 of the current school year.
Orff Ensemble (Grades K-1)
Students build ensemble skills , musicianship skills, and learn basic note reading and writing through playing Orff instruments. Family and friends are invited to several class presentations, and students participate in recitals throughout the year. This class may also support individual instrument instruction whether taken concurrently or at some time in the future.
Note: Students must turn 5 by December 31 of the current school year.
Orff Ensemble Level 2 (Grades 1-2)
Building on skills learned in Orff Ensemble, students continue to develop ensemble, musicianship and note-reading skills while exploring an expanded array of Orff instruments. Family and friends are invited to several class presentations. Students must have completed one year of Orff Ensemble prior to enrolling in this class.
Junior Percussion Ensemble
Using xylophones and other percussion instruments, students develop playing, ensemble and note reading skills through fun and creative musical activities. Family and friends are invited to several music class presentations. This class supports individual music instruction whether taken concurrently or at some time in the future.
