Peter Ing

A native of Toronto, Peter currently resides in Vancouver, B.C. He is an active freelance musician and violin/viola pedagogue. He holds a Master Degree from the University of British Columbia and has since performed in music festivals across North America and Europe, including the Kent Blossom Music Festival, Colorado String Quartet Festival, and the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy. Peter freelances with various orchestras in the Lower Mainland and Thompson-Okanagan Region of B.C. such as Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, and Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra.

As a pedagogue, he is a member of the Suzuki Association of America and is a registered Suzuki Violin /Viola Instructor. His experience in violin pedagogy extends from children age 3 years old to adults. His students have won awards at various music festivals, and most notably, his student was an award winner of the prestigious Gold Medal Award from Royal Conservatory of Music for scoring the highest examination mark.

Peter’s pedagogical belief is to balance musical integrity and excellence with nurturing a heart for the love of music. Other than solo repertoire, his students are immersed in the chamber and orchestral repertoire. Each summer season, he is actively teaching in a summer strings camps that focus on training young string players in orchestral and chamber music playing.
